A long-standing favourite item in the Baron-Rose Duo's repertoire, tried and tested in many concerts. Marimba 1 plays the melody tremolo, marimba 2 plays a 4-mallet arrangement of the piano part. Towards the end marimba 1 sustains a note with unusual technique; rolling with two mallets in one hand striking the bar from above and below alternately while a third mallet plays a counter-melody. Before that the player only needs two mallets and it is possible to pick up the third just before it is needed. Two 4.3 octave marimbas required. |
